Let Your Life Speak – a journey to meet ourselves
This retreat provides space and support to listen to the “still, small voice” within and an opportunity to recognise our soul’s purpose and journey. Drawing on the Quaker tradition of Advices and Queries we will use the creative expressions of others and our own responses to consider the question “Is the life I am living the same as the life that wants to live in me?” (Parker. J. Palmer Let Your Life Speak, 2000). The retreat will offer a series of guided exercises, often working in pairs or small groups, and with plenty of time for quiet reflection and relaxation.
You will be invited to use a journal during the retreat. There are times to be creative, and a sketch book (for drawing, writing, doodling, etc), simple watercolours, colouring pencils and craft papers will be supplied. Feel free to bring your own art and craft materials if you wish and a journal or notebook if you would like to use this as well as the provided sketch book. You may also wish to use a camera (or the camera on your phone) to record what you find or create in the natural environment.
Please bring with you an object which has meaning and significance to you and be prepared to speak briefly about it to the group.
The time is designed to be spacious with a mixture of quiet reflection and solitude, sharing with one or two others and time in the whole group. The intention is that we should come to know each other in “the things that are eternal”.
